Styling for La Mode Toujours Spring/Summer 2013

La Mode Toujours spring/summer lookbook is ready! We worked our asses off and I cached a really bad cold after shooting in the cold wind in the open space of the Baneasa Airport. But no complaints from here, at least I had a jacket on my back while the girls where shooting in these super silky and diaphanous dresses. The clothes are dreamy, exactly what the designer of La Mode Toujours, Cristina Negru, wanted to emphasize. In her super chic and affordable dresses you can dream away into summerish vacation days. Even if you get to travel to exotic destinations or not, you may as well do it dressed in the most breezy and feminine dresses, right? On my must have list I already have the wrap printed skirt and the lace mini dress with a beautiful 60s vibe. Which are your favorite pieces?

Styling for Femeia. magazine, the April issue

I love the 60s (as you already know) and this photo shoot was a dream come true. Thank you team!
Iubesc anii ’60 (cum stiti deja) iar aceasta sedinta foto a fost o implinirea a mai multor idei pe care le-am adunat de-a lungul timpului. Multumesc echipei!

Styling for Femeia magazine, March Issue

Natalia Vasiliev skirt & blouse/ New Yorker trench / Moa clutch
In the March issue of Femeia. I talked about new trends or old ones arising for this new beautiful season. I picked some of my favorite trends but also the ones that I thought the readers will love mostly:
1. sheen & ultra-textured florals
2. stripes & black and white
3. double-breasted and masculine
4. denim head-to-toe
5. color block
6. ’90s simplicity with the slip dress

Zara blouse, trench and shoes / Koton skirt / Staccato bag / New Look necklace / New Yorker ring

I love stripes and this trend is my ultimate favorite this season. You will be seeing a lot of stripes around so if you are a stripes lover also, share with me your looks and ideas!

Zara jacket & necklace / Reserved pants / Koton blouse
New Look shirt & jeans / H&M top / Musette shoes / Reserved bag & scarf / Borealy.ro necklace & bracelet

I’m a big fan of laid back looks so denim over denim was an instant love. Just be careful to keep it in the borders of good taste and don’t over-think it!

Reserved jacket, skirt & shoes / H&M top / Musette bag / Borealy.ro necklace

Color block is an old trend just staying on top of the preferences of urban style wearing women. I personally, I’m leaving this trend behind because it’s just not me anymore. But I can still appreciate a good colorful combination.

Zara dress / Staccato shoes/ Musette bag / Moa necklace / H&M cardigan

I simply adore the slip dress and it reminds me of Carrie my love (you know? Carrie Bradshaw!) at the beginning of the series of SATC. I’m definitely going to buy a few simple dresses like this in the summer.

What is your favorite trend for the spring/summer season starting strong now?

The Woman Behind the Clothes: Iulia Verdes

Gabriela Dumitran Millinery Atelier; Statement Jewelry by Ioana Enache necklace; Reserved jacket & blouse; Koton pants;  Stone Creek shoes

Iulia Verdes is a young Romanian actress, a star to be and a really beautiful woman. You may have seen her by now in Elevator, awarded twice at CineMAIubit, in the “Poor man, rich man” TV-show, or this season next to Marcel Iures, as his daugher in “In treatment”, an HBO TV-show. Last year, Iulia has participated to the Sarajevo Talent Camp and to the Nisi Masa workshop for young European Cineasts.
Iulia is one of my best and oldest friends and because we have grown up together I know so many things about her that it’s difficult to just resume her in a few words. The most important thing you should know about her: she is super determined, very hard working, extremely talented, always speaks the truth, and she’s such a kind lady. But read forward because I’ve prepared some questions for her, so you can know more.

3 to-go pieces from your wardrobe that you use most frequently. My Converse, A pair of jeans, A simple white tee
What stores you most frequently buy from? I’m always on the clock, so the mall is a pretty good option for me. From there I go to Zara and Depot 96, a small Romanian brand.
What will we mostly find in your wardrobe? Shirts, T-shirts and bow ties.
A small shopping tip for our readers. Try a Murmur dress when you want to feel sexy and full of confidence and wear La Mode Toujourswhen you need a re-fill of positive energy and plan to conquer the World! It worked for me!
A personal styling tip. Always add a bit of color, for you and for everybody around you. I prefer printed bow ties. They make me feel good and bring a smile on the faces of people that notice it.
3 favorite brands. Comme des Garcons, for their unisex perfume Comme des Garcons 2, so intense, yet so fresh/ Coca Zaboloteanu for her colored, feminine and comfortable shoes, 3 in 1 / Samuel French Publishing – books, yes books! I first found the Samuel French bookstore in Los Angeles, and instantly fell in love with the idea: their slogan is “Make theater happen” and they publish plays, musicals, theater.
Favorite magazine and blog. I’m a constant reader of Vice magazine and RevistaScena.ro. I also strongly recommend Film Menu, a student magazine with contributors from UNATC, mainly from The Film Section.
I don’t follow blogs, but I’m a faithful reader of the good shopping advices from Featherinashoe.com
A book and a movie that inspired you lately. “Secrets from the casting couch” by Nancy Bishop. Not inspiring, but motivating. And a good movie that made me feel that we have so much to learn from the kids – Moonrise Kingdom

A city that you would always go back to and a city you would like to discover. I’d love to go back to Los Angeles, where everything seems so carefree and the weather is perfect. And Paris, I mean, Paris is always a good idea, right? I’d really like to go to Tibet, I feel like that is the place where I’ll find all the answers to my questions.
What do you love about your job and what annoys you the most? I love the fact that I don’t have to press pause. I always have to keep my mind opened, to think and be preoccupied. I don’t work from 9 to 5, but all the time, with me and with you. Something that annoys me…hm.. Haven’t found out yet.
Share with us one of your dreams! I can’t do that! First I make it happen, and then I’ll share.
In another life you were… A God, a semi-god, or maybe just a great human being.
A recent epiphany: The difference between what is necessary and what is just an accessory.
What do you see when you look at yourself in the mirror? I see: life, hope, trust and determination.
Something that is never missing from your purse. My notebook and a pen.
Do you collect anything? Maps and postcards from the cities I’ve traveled to, and also handwritten letters – I have a few between me and my cousin since we were young and we used to make plans and talk about all our dreams.
A film or a play that you would see again especially for the costumes. Anna Karenina.
How can we be friends or where can we go out to meet? Just be you and we will find each other… if it’s meant to be.
Where should we look when we can’t find you?On the set or on the stage, rehearsing.
A future memory… I see myself working more and more, getting better and better at what I do!
A thought for our readers: Keep a note pad and pencil on your bed-side table. Million-dollar ideas sometimes strike at 3 a.m.

La Mode Toujours FW12 Collection. Aristocracy is a state of mind.

Remember a few weeks ago when I told about one of the most beautiful projects that I got to work on? Well, here it is. The look book for La Mode Toujours is ready and out! The entire LMT collection is amazing. You will find classic elements interpreted in an elegant unique way by my friend, Cristina Negru. Fantastic jewel embroideries done by her hands, and super stylish prints for the most sophisticated of you out there. I love how the pictures captured the beautiful surroundings of the Mogosoaia Palace and also the perfect weather we were given by God Almighty. I hope you like the clothes but also the photos. We totally put our heart and passion into this shoot!

Aristocracy Is A State Of Mind with La Mode Toujours

If you are following me on Instagram you already know that a few weeks ago I worked with La Mode Toujours and Catalin Opritescu for a beautiful photo-shoot. The photos were taken at the Mogosoaia Palace, near Bucharest. We had a lot of adventures, but the weather was perfect and as you can see in this cool teaser video, the clothes are stunning. Keep close for the reveal of the entire collection!

Indian Summer

It’s more than strange for me to write about this photo-shoot that we took more than a month ago, when the weather was warm and dreamy. As I’m writing this, with November just a few days away, the weather outside is more than horrific – it’s super cold and it’s raining cats and dogs for some hours now. So you can understand why I find it so beautiful to share with you these photos more than any day, today! I needed the Indian summer vibe as I need to get under a fluffy blanket (My home is a freezer also). I hope you enjoy them as much as we did doing the shooting.

Special thanks to La Mode Toujours for the beautiful pink sheer dress, long golden goddess dress and white jacket.

And hold your breath guys, cause a week ago I’ve worked on another wonderful project with some friends. I can’t wait to share it with you. But until everything is revealed, all I can tell you about it is that it’s not for everybody… but only for the aristocrats!

V for Vintage poster

Not so long ago – even though it seems sooo long ago – I’ve teamed up with V for Vintage team for their new fair poster photo shoot. It was really a lot of fun. I was sworn into secrecy so I couldn’t say a word… but now that the poster is revealed I can tell you everything about the shoot. As you can see below we worked with actress Ioana Blaj – everybody knows her from the Vodafone funny serial commercials. She was opened to any suggestion and happy to play her “in Paris” role. Sergiu Zimbilschi, the photographer, who is absolutely great (with a super positive attitude and always knowing how to make things look simple and fun), was melting into the sun to get everything perfect. It was a very hot day – summer all the way, that’s why it seems so far away now that the temperature has dropped with almost 20 degrees since then. Hope you enjoy it and see you at V for Vintage fair, of course, on the 17-18th of November.

New photo-shoot on the horizon

I know I owe you one Fashion photo-shoot, but those photos are still in progress of editing. So, until that project I’m giving you a new teaser, from another project that I worked on lately. The story is something like not giving up on summer yet. And because the weather is absolutely beautiful and we are living in this indian summer, we pushed things a little bit by taking the photos next to a pool.
